The good news is our STVC programs work. Just take a look at some of our accomplishments:
- STVC initiated and maintained cease-fires and gang truces, which has eliminated gang violence in a 70-block targeted area.
- Helped reduce the rate of gang retaliation homicide in the city.
- Established an effective liaison with the community and police department that proactively works to prevent violence vbefore it occurs.
- Created the city’s most effective nighttime GED program at the William/Emslie YMCA, in existence now for four years.
Best of all, Stop The Violence Coalition Inc. contributed to the 50% drop in homicide since 2008. Additionally, there were 44 consecutive days of no reports of homicides in 2008 (September 24th – November 6th) soon after last year’s summer campaign ended. |
“The Sweet Look Of Success”
These students successfully completed the Stop The Violence Coalition Inc. Youth Intervention Project mentoring and G.E.D. preparation classes. We congratulate these responsible young adults for earning their G.E.D. diploma and wish them success in their future endeavors.
